Many preggos keep a journal or write letters to their unborn child to document their pregnancy. Some do a weekly or monthly photo session at home; others do a time-lapse video from the moment they find out they're expecting until they give birth.
Then there's the full-blown maternity photo shoot timed when it's near the due date, so the baby bump is more pronounced. Themes range from being nature, boudoir, underwater, and milk maternity baths. It is a celebration of the pregnancy, after all.
Every year, moms-to-be get more and more creative. It's not really new per se, but it was only a matter of time after the mermaid breastfeeding photos became a hit that pregnant women this time would want do it. And sure enough, the #PregnantMermaid hashtag was born and has now become a maternity photo shoot trend. Look:
You don't even have to be at the beach or by the pool though you may need to add props.

If you're wondering where you can get a mermaid tail, there are online sellers like Bumblebee and Company that does custom-made mermaid tails for their clients. Lazada Philippines sells one that you can really use for swimming. But, upon checking, the online shop also has mermaid tail blankets! Now, this is more our style.
