Have a kid who has memorized the scenes and songs of the Disney’s The Lion King? Well, if you think your child has potential, The Lion King Musical is holding an open call audition for kids in the Philippines, giving them a chance to join the production as Young Simba and Young Nala in the latest international tour!
Kids ages 9 to 12 are invited to audition for the characters. According to an announcement posted on the Facebook page of Atlantis Theatrical, children of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend, even those who do not have experience performing in a production. But they need to come prepared to sing the last verse of Just Can’t Wait to Be King.
According to the announcement, the production is looking for kids who are natural actors and singers for the role of Young Simba. Along with talent and charm, he must have the confidence to hold the stage on his own because he is the future King of the Pridelands, after all. For Young Nala, the production is looking for an actress and singer who can move well and have the strength of character to keep Simba in his place.
The open call is on July 11, 2019,from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Zobel de Ayala Recital Hall, BGC Arts Center, 26th St., Bonifacio, Global City. Registration will close at 4 p.m.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and should remain at the audition site at all times. Bring a 3R headshot, birth certificate, and be prepared to accomplish a registration form upon arrival.
Only child actors with the written consent of their parents or legal guardians will be engaged. If your child is one of the lucky ones to be cast in the show, be prepared to travel with them to various destinations in Asia!

During The Lion King's run in the Philippines in 2018, a group of Pinoy kids snagged the coveted roles of Young Simba and Nala. Gabriel Tiongson, Julien Joshua Dolor, Jr, and Omar Uddin shared the role of Young Simba while Felicity Napuli, Uma Martin, and Sheena Bentoy alternated as Young Nala.
Currently, the international tour is holding shows in Taiwan, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
