5. Chinese baby born with 31 fingers and toes
Baby Honghong from the rural Hunan province in China was born with 15 fingers and 16 toes. Doctors say he has an extreme case of polydactyly, a medical term that means having extra fingers and toes, which was undetected even though his mother, who also has the condition (she has 12 fingers and 12 toes), had undergone several prenatal scans, including an advanced four-dimensional ultrasound. Surgery for Honghong might be difficult, but it’s possible. Back in 2010, doctors operated on a six-year-old boy who also had 31 fingers and toes. The procedure, however, could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and local media have been calling for donations for the family. (mashable.com)
