That's why inspirational quotes are popular in social media--they help put things into perspective and somehow make you extra grateful for what you have in life. But, for us, these words become extra special when they are packaged into beautiful artwork like the books below.

It's a great gift for yourself, but also to any of your best friends on days when they just need a perk-me-up. No need for a special occasion.

A Mother is a Story: A Celebration of Motherhood
    by Samantha Hahn (Php899)

A collection of stunning watercolour artworks and powerful quotes, artist Samantha Hahn has created a book to treasure. “Creating this book, I wanted to see if it was possible to portray this shared experience of motherhood in all its glorious, messy beauty,” says Samantha in her introduction for the book.

“Deeply in love and deeply exhausted, exasperated and proud, worried and blissful – these feelings form their own special harmony and become the story of motherhood,” adds Samantha, showing just how deeply and profoundly she feels about being a mom.

It’s a book made just for moms who are looking to capture the words (and color!) that speak of the essence of motherhood. The illustrations stay with the reader and blend seamlessly with words that go straight to the heart.  It’s uplifting and inspirational--it might even bring a few tears to your eyes.

Advice From My 80-Year-Old Self: Real Words of Wisdom from People Ages 7 to 88
    by Susan O’Malley (Php799)

Author, artist and curator Susan O’Malley asked people aged 7 to 88 years old what piece of advice their 80-year-old self would give their present-day self. The result is a hundred people--from the very young to the old--contributing, as Brain Pickings put it, “profound, playful and disarmingly sincere” answers.

Sadly, shortly before the publishing of her book, at 38 years old O’Malley died in the last week of her pregnancy with her twin girls, who also did not survive.  This book is now her legacy, and her work lives on.

The book is a reminder to hold on to life and to live it the best we can. As one advice reads:

    This is a good moment
    Don’t forget this moment
    -Elaine, 71 years old
