Advice From My 80-Year-Old Self: Real Words of Wisdom from People Ages 7 to 88 by Susan O’Malley (Php799)
Author, artist and curator Susan O’Malley asked people aged 7 to 88 years old what piece of advice their 80-year-old self would give their present-day self. The result is a hundred people--from the very young to the old--contributing, as Brain Pickings put it, “profound, playful and disarmingly sincere” answers.
Sadly, shortly before the publishing of her book, at 38 years old O’Malley died in the last week of her pregnancy with her twin girls, who also did not survive. This book is now her legacy, and her work lives on.
The book is a reminder to hold on to life and to live it the best we can. As one advice reads:
“This is a good moment Don’t forget this moment” -Elaine, 71 years old
