Resisting those big red signs announcing sales and discounts is hard. Who doesn't want to score new clothes and home items at half the price? And actress and TV host Toni Gonzaga is no different — a good bargain will always be tempting.
“I’m very practical, I’m very matipid. I became a typical mom kung saan addict sa discount, addict sa sale. ‘Yan na ‘yung mga, pag sale nakakarinig ako, nangiginig na ako agad,” she shared in an interview with SmartParenting.com.ph after the "Pampers Wow! Diaper Showdown" event at the Trinoma Activity Center.
If Toni loves sales and discounts, her husband, film director Paul Soriano, believes in investing in the right brands. “Si Paul, when it comes daw to your family, when it comes especially with Seve, sabi niya, always invest in the right brand and the right product. Siya nagsabi sa’kin non, you get what you pay for.

“‘Pag cheap, eh cheap quality na makukuha mo. Lagi siyang ganyan, you get what you pay for so don’t complain. Sabi niya sa akin, when it comes to Seve, Seve deserves the best brand. Lagi syang ganon. ‘Give him the right brand, wag mo sya tipirin,’” Toni added.
Toni now monitors the family’s budget and tracks their expenses, something she didn't do with her own finances when she was still single. “Naglalaan ka ng priority, may necessities, tsaka ‘yung luxury. Of course, sa baby ang top priority mo diyan ngayon, especially Seve is a toddler, are yung milk, diaper, and food.”

Though the family of three has been going on trips, Toni shared that luxury is at the bottom of their list of priorities. Speaking of their envy-worthy trips, it seems that Toni’s practicality also comes into play when it comes to packing Seve’s things for a family vacation.
“Sa isang luggage, siguro mga dalawa [packs of diaper]. ‘Yung last trip namin, tatlo ang dala kong pack ng Pampers, dalawa lang ang nabuksan namin, hindi pa naubos. Essential ‘yung using the right diaper when you’re traveling, it’s very important. ‘Yan ‘yung hindi kami pwedeng umalis ng bahay na wala. Sulit siya in terms of mas less ang pagpapalit mo ng diaper,” Toni said.
